First off, I want to issue an apology to all the people that think this article should be titled “Lymbyc Systym at Mohawk” or “This Will Destroy You at Mohawk.” Man, those instrumentalists can really pack them in, on a Thursday night no less. But, I went last night to see Many Birthdays. Ever since I caught them at Free Week I’ve been trying meaning to go to another one of their shows. So, they opened and where on stage before I showed up at 10:20 (seriously… are people actually starting when they say they are starting these days?). And they were really good, a bit rough on the edges, but really good. Their blend of electro and rock is all too common place these days, but it often seems like an addition to music rather than and essential component as it does with Birthdays (Can I call them that for short?). Anyway, they could be a bit tighter and turn up the guitar a touch, but being critical here is just a formality. Check out Many Birthdays if you can. Lymbyc Systym was good, but it got waaaay too packed in there (as you can see in the reflection) so I ended up taking off. Man, it was really uncomfortably crowed… someone tell Mohawk that outside is better.
